 Float Trips on the Ouachita River.

  Gravel Pit to Rocky Shoals (3 miles - 2 to 3 hours)

    Excellent float for beginners.  Great fishing! 

    Gravel Bars along the route for picnics.  Good swimming holes. 

    Fish and turtles are often seen swimming along side the canoes since the river is so clean and\

    clear.

  Oden to Rocky Shoals (10 miles - 5 to 7 hours)

    Most popular and scenic float.  The river flows past a string of the beautiful Ouachita

     Mountains, a cave at the base of a mountain where deer and turkey are often seen coming

     down to drink from the river, through the huge slated bluffs near Pencil Bluff and ends at

     Rocky Shoals float camp.

   Pine Ridge to Oden

    Trip begins under the Pine Ridge bridge and ends at Ouachita Jack's place at Oden.  

     Excellent shoals and cover for fishing.  Very scenic trip!

 Washita River Information

    For primitive camping, you are welcome to take your tent and supplies and spend the night

   under the Ouachita sky on one of the many river gravel bars. 

   We have a store at M and M Canoes offering ice, soft drinks, fishing and hunting licenses

   (resident and out of state), fish, bait, T-Shirts, caps and other miscellaneous items.

   Additional services are available in near by Mt. Ida.

     Located in West-Central Arkansas, the upper section of the Ouachita River winds its way through the picturesque Ouachita National Forest.  Flowing through the valleys beneath breathtaking cliffs and high ridges of the Ouachita Mountains, the river finds its way to Lake Ouachita, known as one of the clearest lakes in the world.
